Since 2021, DAWEO, with the generous support of Unwoman, has been actively providing essential health services, including mental health and psychosocial support (PSS) counseling, in the Bamyan and Paktia regions. This initiative focuses on delivering comprehensive care to the community, with a particular emphasis on vulnerable women populations.

The services encompass a wide range of support, including patient consultations, free medications, hygiene kits, and psychological counseling for both males and females. Notably, approximately 90% of the individuals served are women, reflecting the organization’s commitment to addressing the unique health challenges faced by females in these communities.

Many psychological and mental health disorders are rooted in familial relationships, highlighting the need for targeted interventions. To ensure effective treatment for women, DAWEO’s health team has prioritized offering these vital services to impoverished and underserved women who cannot afford their treatment expenses.

In addition to supporting women, DAWEO also extends its services to individuals struggling with addiction, as well as to male and female prisoners, recognizing the critical need for mental health support in these populations. Through this comprehensive approach, DAWEO aims to foster a healthier, more resilient community, ensuring that those most in need receive the care and support necessary for their well-being.

DAWEO has provided health services to over 20,000 women and girls, as well as 1,700 men, over the past three years. Our health and mental health support services are ongoing.
