The current challenging situation of Afghanistan is encountered both men and women with a lot of obstacles and challenges which have negatively impacted their lives. One of those obstacles is mental health challenges. Based on our experience we have seen a large number of people specially women suffer from mental health and psychosocial issues due to the imposed restriction by the de facto authorities.

The chances of school, universities and jobs have been limited and almost banned for women and this situation, if not addressed from health perspective, in a long run, it will create serious issues for women. We therefore, based on the need, we suggest to provide psychosocial support and awareness to the targeted community
The purpose of the project is to provide psychosocial services to a specified group of people including men and women.
The Project results will include impacts that are expected to take place after implementing the psychosocial and health services. The results are generally positive improvements in the lives of the beneficiaries, who have various health and mental health problems. Also, the provided support will prepare them to go forward and help them learn how to self-care Outputs: 650 females and 100 males will benefit from psychosocial and health services, counselling and awareness.
Outcomes:
Psychosocial services and support as well as integrated and survivor-centered and trauma-informed services will be provided for men and women with a special focus on women and girls’ survivors of violence, those at psychosocial and mental health risks.

The targeted people in the community will experience positive changes in their lives from a psychosocial perspective; they will learn:

  • How to control and overcome their stress
  • how to self-care
  • Be able to positively contribute to their society

Organizational and staff capacities are strengthened to deliver survivor-centered GBV prevention and response services, through SoPs and various trainings. DAWEO will provide its employees the necessary subject-matter training. To help other staff members develop their competence, DAWEO will also transfer the knowledge gained from the UNDP training to those who did not have the chance to receive it. A goal of the project will be to equip the workforce with more skills so they can provide higher-quality services.
Impact: Project impact will include but not limited to:

  • Support the health system
  • Boost mental health
  • Enhance Psychological well-being and coping skills

Social Impact: reducing violence among families and societies, promote self care and overcome stress.
Economic impact: Healthier persons are physically and mentally more energetic and robust. They are more productive both at home and on job and earn higher wages. They are also less likely to be absent from work because of illness and psychological problem including depression and anxiety.
